About the Show
“Protecting the Light” explores the quiet force of longing—the instinctive pull towards desire and destiny, even before we fully understand it. Inspired by the idea that yearning is our “souls desire” the works in this exhibition reflect the courage and tenderness it takes to trust our inner knowing. Each piece considers how we move through uncertainty while protecting the laughter and light within ourselves. The canvas is my mirror and longing is “the only real map of our lives.” In a world that often asks us to ignore our intuition, desire, and longings, “Protecting the Light” honors the courage it takes to listen and trust our inner knowing. These works invite viewers to trust the pull of their own longing and to recognize that whatever calls to you is already alive somewhere inside you. “Allow your longing. I believe that our longing is the thing that has already happened to us, but we haven’t caught up to it in time. It’s loving something before we believe in it. It is right to long, it is right to yearn. It is our yearning that takes us forward to our souls desire.The only real map of our lives is in our yearning. You can’t control yearning, so embrace it.
